Two new access policies have been developed which now means that a Deaf person is entitled to a sign language interpreter when accessing services through the department of social protection and the citizens information board.

This includes:

COMMUNITY WELFARE OFFICES (CWO)

INTREO (FAS) EMPLOYMENT SUPPORT

SOCIAL WELFARE OFFICES (SW)

CITIZEN’S INFORMATION

MABS

NATIONAL ADVOCACY SERVICE

The Cork Deaf Association would like to thank Willie White of KDRC for working so hard to establish the right of Deaf people to have an ISL interpreter present when accessing services through INTREO, social welfare, community welfare officers, Citizen’s Information Centres, MABS and the National Advocacy Service.
