Project Engagement Officer, Deaf Awareness Project – Part-time

We are seeking a dedicated and highly organised part-time Project Engagement Officer to lead the rollout of an impactful Deaf Awareness project.

The organisation has received funding for a 15-month project focused on the provision of Deaf Awareness training to community and voluntary bodies across Munster.

This role is ideal for someone with exceptional organisational and administrative skills, strong data reporting skills and someone who enjoys managing multiple priorities, coordinating information, and keeping complex projects on track.  Research skills and a commitment to the principles of access and inclusion are important in this role.

Overview of the position

The Project Engagement Officer will:

  • oversee project delivery, scheduling, compliance and reporting
  • communicate & coordinate with Cork Deaf Association management, funders,
    trainers, Irish Sign Language interpreters and organisations receiving Deaf
    Awareness training
  • have strong data reporting skills

Overview of Duties: (not an exhaustive list)

Workshop & Training Coordination

  • Coordinate Deaf Awareness workshops for community & voluntary
    organisations across Cork and the wider Munster region
  • Ensure training content is engaging, practical and tailored to different
    audiences
  • Track participation and feedback, using insights to refine the training
    approach

Stakeholder Engagement & Outreach

  • Build and maintain relationships with voluntary and community organisations
  • Act as the point of contact for organisations looking to improve their Deaf
    Awareness
  • Promote awareness through networking, events, and targeted outreach
    Project Coordination & Administration
  • Develop structured plans, timelines, and reporting systems to keep the project
    on track
  •  Ensure all materials, logistics, and scheduling for workshops run smoothly
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, participant data, and follow-ups
  • Gather impact metrics in accordance with project goals & deliverables
  • Assist in the completion of reports against metrics, using the reporting tools
    provided by the funder

Communications & Promotion

  • Support the development of promotional materials, digital content, and
    resources to raise awareness of the initiative
  • Work with the Cork Deaf Association team to publicise training opportunities
    and encourage participation
  • Collaborate on social media and website updates to showcase project
    milestones
  • Support the creation of content for an accessible learning hub on Cork Deaf
    Associations website
  • Research and collate Deaf Awareness resources to support continuous learning
    on new resource hub

Person Specification

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in project coordination, training, workshops, or public engagement
    activities
  • Strong administrative skills, particularly with the ability to research, interpret
    & report data
  • Excellent organisational and coordination skills
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, outreach, or advocacy
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a wider team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to adapt content and engagement styles for different audiences
  • Experience of or interest in the Deaf Community and Deaf Culture
  • A commitment to accessibility and inclusion principles

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of the Irish Sign Language Act and its implications for public
    bodies. Training will be provided if required
  • Experience working with the Deaf Community or accessibility-focused
    initiatives
  • Research skills
  • Knowledge of Deaf Issues/Irish Sign Language is an Advantage

Terms

  • Hours: 21 hours per week (three days)
  • Location: Munster-based. Hybrid/remote, in Cork Deaf Association base or
    occasional attendance at training events, if required
  • Salary: €36,293 (full-time equivalent) for 15 months. This role is 21hrs per
    week and salary will be paid on a pro rata basis
